Canary Islands

A 10-day gravel bike expedition across the Canary Islands, following the demanding Gran Guanche ultra-cycling route at a touring pace. Spanning approximately 700 kilometers and 16,000 meters of elevation gain, the journey crosses five islands: Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and El Hierro. The route highlights extreme geographical and climatic contrasts, from stark black lava fields and coastal deserts to punishing 25-percent gradients and high-altitude cloud forests. Bypassing the competitive race format, the riders navigated intense physical and mechanical challenges while fully experiencing the archipelago’s diverse, rugged landscapes.
